Eastham Historical Society was founded in 1963 by a group of Eastham visionaries who wished to Preserve Eastham’s Past for Eastham’s Future. To that end, the Society maintains museums at the Swift-Daley complex located at 2375 State Highway in Eastham and at the 1869 School House Museum, located at 25 Schoolhouse Road. The EHS Archives, also located at the School House Museum, gathers genealogical and historical information through donations, cataloguing and preserves these materials in a safe climate controlled environment. The emphasis is on, but not limited to Eastham. The Society also sponsors various programs throughout the year including book reviews, historical presentations, information days and public displays.
Eastham Historical Society is now a member of the Digital Commonwealth, which is a non-profit collaborative organization that provides resources and services to support the creation, management and dissemination of cultural heritage material held by Massachusetts libraries, museums, historical societies and archives. Two collections from the Archives, Margaret Bready Genealogy Collection and our Postcard collection are now up on this site. Check it out at www.Digitalcommonwealth.org and search Eastham.

Membership: Our members are the lifeblood of the Society. Each and every one of us shares an interest in the Town of Eastham and its heritage – hopefully you will too. By becoming a member of the Eastham Historical Society, you will be helping to promote public awareness of our rich local history and encourage the preservation of our museums and historical documents. Consider volunteering as a Docent with Eastham Historical Society. Docents have new and exciting opportunities to learn the history of Eastham and its founders. Volunteer Docents get to interact with visitors from both near and far at our various Museums; The 1869 Schoolhouse, Swift-Daley House, Dill Beach Camp and Ranlett Tool Museum. They are all a treasure trove to see, explore and share with others. This is an opportunity to learn, grow and contribute to both the Society and our Community. Contact us at easthamhistorical@verizon.net or consider filling out the next page, mailing it in and someone will get back to you to discuss your interest as a possible Docent and how to best use your interest and abilities.
