The Berlin Art and Historical Society is a charitable corporation formed under state law, which has a membership, officers and programs of its own.  It also works to support the Historical Commission’s work in various ways, assisting with care and management of the town historical collection, and providing major financial and volunteer support for the Bullard House, its maintenance and renovation.  The Society also purchased the Hearse House and moved it to the Old Burying Ground, doing various restoration and maintenance since then.  In 2013-14 the building is undergoing a major restoration, being taken apart completely and re-erected to continue as the oldest surviving building erected for public use in Berlin.

The whole membership participates in business meetings, usually held six times annually.
