The Upton Historical Society was formed in 1968 as a private nonprofit organization incorporated under Massachusetts G.L. Ch 180 and is funded by member’s dues and donations.
UHS’s members consist primarily of current and previous Upton residents and include friends of the Society, many who are located throughout the country.

The UHS Historical Room Museum is located in the Knowlton-Risteen building (above the Town Library) directly across from the Upton Town Hall on Route 140.
The Museum's address is: 2 Main St, 2nd Floor, Upton, MA 01568.
Collections on display at the Society Museum include over 50 volumes of photographs and over 120 scrapbooks of news articles since the late 1800's.
Our holdings encompass:
- histories of buildings (completed in 1996 by a grant from the Massachusetts Historical Commission)
- Town Reports dating from 1890 to the present
- Assessor's published records prior to 1975
