The Collections of the Needham Historical Society are used to promote and disseminate information about the Town and its history. The collections are also a public resource for individuals doing their own historic or genealogical research.
Collections are made available for study by appointment with the Executive Director or Archivist. Please call 781-455-8860 or email greis@needhamhistory.org.
Artifacts – tools and implements of work; clothing, uniforms, and accessories (1700s – present); flags; local Native American artifacts; furniture and decorative arts; children’s toys and games; memorabilia of Needham events; local natural history collections
Document Archives – personal and family records (genealogies, correspondence, obituaries, etc); research files on topics of interest (businesses, agriculture, events, etc.)
Books and Manuscripts – works on topics of local interest; published and unpublished works on Needham history, environment, and events; personal book collections; sermons, lectures, and speeches
Public Records – Town Reports, newspapers, street directories, poll tax lists; the High School Advocate
Photographic Archives – over 5000 photos of Needham people, scenes, and events (c. 1850 – present); slide collection (original photos, copy photos, object photos)
