The Jamaica Plain Historical Society was founded in 1987 to highlight the rich and varied history of this neighborhood of Boston. During the non-summer months the JPHS sponsors a monthly event, usually in the form of a book talk, lecture, film-screening, etc. From mid-May to the end of September a weekly walking tour of some area of the neighborhood is offered. All JPHS activities are free and open to the public. With the exception of an annual members event which is a chance to celebrate the members of the JP Historical Society who make all the activities possible. Our website (www.jphs.org) is the main outlet for the JPHS and is an excellent and comprehensive source of information about the history of Jamaica Plain.
You can join the JP Historical Society member for as little as $15 a year. More information about membership is available on our website.
The JPHS Steering Committee meets on the third Tuesday of each month at Doyle's (3484 Washington Street) at 7PM.
