Medfield’s Peak House is one of the earliest surviving examples of post-medieval English (Elizabethan) architecture and is the only
free-standing structure of its kind in the United States. Its exceptionally steep pitched roof is the highest on record in Massachusetts.
For a small town, Medfield has a big history. From its 1649 beginnings with settlers from nearby Dedham, through the arrival of King Philip’s War in 1676, to its charm today, events have happened here which impact our town’s culture and history. And nowhere is that important heritage captured more dramatically than at the Peak House Heritage Center, an ideal place to begin your visit to this picturesque community.
