Scope and Content: The post of Commissioner of Weights and Measures (heading the Department of Weights and Measures) was established in 1907. It was succeded by the post of Commissioner of Standards (heading the Department of Standards) in 1918, which in turn was replaced by the Division of Standards Department of Labor and Industries) in 1919. The division was abolished in 1969 as of 1971, but was revived in 1972 as an agency of the Executive Office of Consumer Affairs.

Scope and Content: St 1951, c 656 gave the Board of Registration in Medicine responsibility for registering physical therapists to practice in Massachusetts. St 1982, c 667 transferred this responsibility to a newly created Board of (on) Allied Health Professions (currently known as the Board of Registration of Allied Health Professions) which was also given responsibility for registering physical therapy assistants, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, and athletic trainers.
