Scope and Content: The adjutant general of the Commonwealth, as executive administrator of the state’s Military Establishment, came to be responsible for preserving and administering information about all aspects of the state’s military service.  During the Spanish-American War, many persons and organizations offered various services to the Massachusetts Volunteer Militia, such as raising troops, use of private property, and professional and technical assistance such as engineering and medicine.  This series identifies persons and organizations offering such contributions.
