Inventory of artillery stores, 1846-1850.

1 file folder (partial document box)
Call no.: PS1/730X

Scope and Content: The adjutant general of the Commonwealth, as executive administrator of the state’s Military Establishment, has general superintendency over military stores and property.  This series provides an inventory of what appear to be certain consumable ordnance stores located in various municipalities throughout Massachusetts.
Arrangement: Arranged by municipality, thereunder by military unit
Notes: While matters concerning artillery and ordnance stores characteristically are associated with the position of Quartermaster, that office was in a state of hiatus from 1821 until 1861.  During that time the Adjutant General’s Office met the responsibilities of the Quartermaster General’s Dept. Cover title: Artillery stores.
