Scope and Content: The adjutant general of the Commonwealth, as executive administrator of the state’s Military Establishment, has general superintendency over military stores and property.  These affidavits detail consumable military property that had been lost, stolen, destroyed, or expended; they were prepared by company commanders of the Massachusetts Volunteer Militia pursuant to Special Order 101 (June 1, 1911) and forwarded to the adjutant general through the quartermaster general.
