Scope and Content: St  1969, c 800, s 1 promulgated MGLA c 118E to administer in Massachusetts a joint state-federally funded program of medical care and assistance authorized by Title XIX of the federal Social Security Act (P.L. 89-97). It was placed under the Commonwealth’s Dept. of Public Welfare (DPW), which was already responsible for various medical assistance programs for specific constituencies.  St 1993, c 161, s 17 placed the program, now commonly known as Medicaid, under a Division of Medical Assistance, Executive Office for Health and Human Services.
