Scope and Content: The Charles River Basin Commission was established in 1903 to make examinations and plans for and to carry out the construction of a dam across the Charles River between and Cambridge and other construction and dredging related to the building of the dam.  To carry out these tasks, the commission contracted for construction, supplies, and equipment.
