Scope and Content: The Pardon and Parole Commission was established in 1919 to investigate the pardon and parole system of Massachusetts and specifically the granting of pardons by the Governor Charles F. Hurley in 1938 to Raymond L. S. Patriarca, John S. Tartar, and others, and the actions of Governor’s Councillor Daniel H. Coakley, who was impeached and removed from office in 1941.  Series was created during the work of the commission.
